Cool Kayak Of Choice

I have been giving this some serious thought.......What kind of kayak to purchase. I think I'm ready to do this in the very near future. It seems that the Wildreness Tarpon is a highly sought after yak. You hardly ever see them listed used FOR SALE......but when they are listed they are gone really quick. I hear lots of high remarks on this yak. I'm looking at the Tarpon 120 or the 140.Any reponse would be of great help in making my choice.

Research, research, reaserch and try before you buy is the best advice you can get. Check out texaskayakfisherman.com theres lots of info on there, thats where i looked before i bought my x-factor last year. Good Luck

I have the 2010 Tarpon 140 and have never looked back. It is VERY fast, tracks well, stable, has ample storage and takes the rough water on a wind blown day. I haven't taken it BTB (Beyond the Breakers), but many have and they do well in the surf. I did a lot of rersearch and the T140 was not my first choice. What changed my mind was to actually paddle the kayaks I was considering and after the round of paddling, the T140 was the choice for me. My suggestion would be to paddle these first and make your decision on what worked best for you as there are many models and opinions, but your opinion is what counts most.

I've both T140 & T160i. Love them both, but during windy day or long distance paddle, I 'm glad I am in T160i . T140 is also good for BTB

This site has some pretty neat boats. I dont know how much they weigh or how much they cost but they seem to work great.

Matthew....they look pretty neat, but they look heavy. I'm curious to know what they weigh. They appear to have plenty of weight capacity.
